Make Progress Now: Take the Hand Brakes Off Your Life!

Do you find yourself striving upward in life yet making little or no progress?

Are you high on activity but low on achievement?

Very clearly, it’s time to stop, look and listen. You’re obviously not doing something right.

I am an “Advanced Learner” driver. By now I shouldn’t still be wearing my learner plates, I guess I just love the fact that people clear out of the way when I’m coming, and clamour to help me at the slightest sign of driver-distress. Talk about loving thy neighbour!

Also, to my alarm, no matter how hard I stepped on the throttle, the car would not accelerate. It continued its belaboured, uphill climb, growling grudgingly as it went.

I made it some how to the top of the hill and pulled over to see what all the fuss was about.

As the smell of burning rubber reached my nose, my teenage son, sitting next to me exclaimed, “Mom, the hand brakes are on!”

I had been striving upward, making very little progress. I was “high on activity, but low on achievement.” Thank электронный переводчик God it occurred to me to “stop, look and listen.”

I had the hand brakes on the whole time; the trouble was entirely my fault! The strange part was that it took some one else to spot the problem. It could have taken me ages, and much further damage, to see it myself.

News Until You Puke

I listen to way too much news. I feel if I don’t, I’ll miss the Second Coming, spreading Tsunami, in coming meteor, rising melt water from glaciers, a solar flare that might fry me, alien invasion or next terror attack that has been promised for the past four years. Since I don’t want to miss these things, I listen to way too much news.

Beause I listen to way too much news, I know way too much about beheadinigs and bullet riddled bodies. I know way too much about car bombs and body parts lying around. A few days ago they found a few dozen heads in boxes in Iraq. This is no way to get ahead in war. I wish I didn’t know about that, but I do. It makes me wonder where the rest of them gps навигаторы went. I only know this stuff because I watch and listen to way too much news.

I know too many darn opinions about way too much stuff. I used to listen to Limbaugh, but I don’t think he believes himself sometimes and O’Reilly is just way too angry, smart assed and repressed for my taste, but I know about these guys, because I listen to way too much news. I learned that on the the news. I listen to way too much you know. I listen to Air America. Now that’s a pretty newsy bunch if ever there was one. I like them. They scare the hell out of me, but I like them. They say everything about government and this administration that all the other news I read about them makes me think. They make me feel that the thoughts I have about about all the other news I read about is at least normal. At least I don’t feel so alone in my reaction to all the news I read way too much of.

ETF Investments: Understanding "The Dark Side" of Exchange Traded Funds

Until now, I’ve been a big fan of ETF investments (Exchange Traded Funds). After all, they offer choice, flexibility, low costs and tax efficiency, among other benefits. And they’re growing like wildfire…

Though small compared to the 8,000 mutual funds valued at $9 trillion, there are now 253 ETFs with assets exceeding $315 billion, up 41% from a year ago. Clearly, they have fulfilled an important need.

Everybody on Wall Street is getting in on the act, too. The New York Stock Exchange, the Nasdaq, the AMEX and the COMEX; brokerage houses like Merrill Lynch, Goldman Sachs, and Lehman; the indexer Dow Jones; and the rating texas whitetail deer hunting services Standard & Poor’s and Morningstar.
